Thief makes his great escape through the bottom section of a garage door.

A opportunistic thief traded his bicycle for a motorcycle in a Kamloops parking garage and sped right through the garage door which was being repaired.

Anchor Door and Window was at The Station on Tranquille Road on Wednesday to repair the garage door after it had been damaged that morning, but they didn’t expect to have their efforts stalled like this.

Greg Krenz, owner of Anchor Door and Window, said the staff were suspicious of the man when he rode in on the bicycle and lingered around the garage for some time. That’s when they saw him leave the bike behind and start a motorcycle.

“They put the bottom section of the door in to stop him, thinking he couldn’t ride past that,” Krenz said.

Though the garage door is heavy, it wasn’t enough to stop the man from plowing through “like Evel Knievel.”

Krenz said the workers were disappointed they couldn’t stop him, but they reported it to police to track down the stolen motorcycle.
