No injuries after Essling Avenue townhouse fire on Hamilton Mountain

An early morning fire at a Hamilton Mountain townhouse caused $50,000 in damage.

No one was hurt in the fire at a unit in 110 Essling Ave., near Rymal Road East and Upper Wentworth Street.

Emergency services were called to the fire around 5:11 a.m. March 2, said Hamilton police Const. Krista-Lee Ernst.

The Hamilton Fire Department received several calls for garbage and a garage door on fire, said assistant deputy chief Burt Lamoureux.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed fire had spread to the garage and there was some extension to the second floor of the home, he said.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted “due to the nature of the fire,” Lamoureux said.
