A Thames Centre man faces a long list of charges after provincial police in Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties busted two people following a two-month investigation into a spree of vehicle thefts and property crimes in Southwestern Ontario.

The probe began in November and concluded Jan. 8 when OPP — with the help of London police officers — arrested two suspects in a London hotel room, OPP said Thursday.

Officers seized $70,000 worth of stolen property including two vehicles, dozens of stolen IDs, tools, wallets, 10 garage door openers and other items.

A 30-year-old Thames Centre man is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering, trespassing at night, possession of property obtained by crime worth more than $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime worth less than $5,000, theft of goods worth less than $5,000 and prohibited driving.

In total, he faces 38 counts stemming from 27 incidents in Elgin, Oxford and Middlesex counties, police said. He is in custody pending a court date.
